According to a research conducted by Alliance Bernstein, a global asset management firm that conducts research worldwide, an estimated 1,600,000 packages are shipped by Amazon in a day. From a thing as little as a hair pin to something as big as a refrigerator all are packed and parceled in cardboard boxes. The products are packaged in custom packaging boxes made from corrugated material. If you have such boxes lying around in your home or next time you order something online, don’t throw the packaging boxes away instead turn them into sock savers.
Sock it up!
Never lose your socks again with this clever yet simple sock organizer that you can make from custom cardboard boxes in no time.
Things you’ll need:
The first step is to cut the flaps which will then be used for making the compartments. Measure and trim the height of the flaps such that it is almost half an inch shorter than the height of your cardboard or mailer box. Paint the box with glue both inside and outside to cover it with your choice of paper or fabric. Preferable is to use fabric because it doesn’t tear apart easily. Take the longer flap and cut it at 1/4th and 3/4th. Don’t cut all the way up or you will have three individual pieces. We want to retain the single flap with two incisions to fix the two smaller flaps. While cutting make it 1mm width apart so that the thickness of the other flaps easily set in. You will have two widthwise and one lengthwise partitions. Now place them inside the box and voila! There you have it, your very own six compartment sock organizer. Roll the pairs of socks into buns and put them inside the compartments. Take bigger sized box to make more compartments and store more socks.
